We are Lois, the legendary Spanish denim brand. Our fashion collections include footwear, accessories and trends for men, women and children.
Denim: a fabric designed for work, but which is all the rage on the streets. Having found the right process for creating and dyeing ‘Spanish denim’, LOIS was born in 1962 as one of the first jeans designed and produced in Europe, specifically in Valencia (Spain).
In the early 1960s, the Sáez-Merino brothers, Manuel and Joaquín, first heard about a new fabric that was making a name for itself in the USA: the denim.
Following the success of the Lois straight jeans, we launched the brand’s first denim jacket in 1965.
Our brand conquered international markets: France, The Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain and Canada became hot spots for expansion. Yet it was in the 1970s when we became one of the world’s big four jeans brands.
In that decade, celebrities such as ABBA, Johan Cruyff, Björn Borg and Rod Stewart wore the brand’s garments.
Throughout this decade, women broke with the sexist traditional society. What started out as a trickle of Spanish women entering the labour market turned into a movement which had no turning back. Liberalised women took to the street in Lois jeans, miniskirts and shorts.
In the 1980s the market was flooded with new brands. Society decided to export and started consuming foreign products.
Collection after collection, Lois has proved its rebelliousness and non-conformism, reaching both the public who grew up wearing our garments as well as the youngsters who are attracted by a brand steeped in history.
At Lois we kept working to stay at the forefront of denim brands. Following a time of restructuring within the company, in the early 1990s we made a comeback with renewed energy and the enthusiasm that originally brought us to life.
Thus, in 2012, the time had come to cement the company’s new beginnings. Lois turned 50 and we celebrated in style
We continued our international expansion, reinforced by a very distinctive quality: fully designed in Spain, which guarantees the quality and control over the final product.
Today, Lois remains positioned as an internationally impactful brand with an extended online ecosystem, offering fashion collections with a broad approach that appeal to people of almost all ages and backgrounds. Besides, in the latest brand campaigns Lois shows its commitment to certain social causes, stressing the concept of free women, who shun gender stereotypes.
In 2022, Lois celebrates its 60th birthday with a special campaign inspired by its origins: an old sewing workshop becomes the setting for a family and friends gathering, where denim takes centre stage.
Lois keeps moving towards sustainability. We have added designs made from recycled or natural fabrics such as Tenzel©, Repreve© polyester (made from PET plastic bottles) and recycled cotton to our collections.
